Today on the end of the day we were researching in groups
about 12 Design Studios. As a group we
had to research about ‘Build’ Design
Studio.
‘Build’ Design Studio is an internationally renowned design
and an award-winning creative agency founded in 2011 by Michael C and Nicky
Place. The Studio is originally based in London, but they moved to Yorkshire in
2015. They worked with a number of universally recognised
companies such us: Nokia, Design Museum London, Sony, Nike, Microsoft, iStock,
Warp, Studio, Octopi, Virgin America, Made.com, gettyimages, The Stow Brothers,
Sota and Generation Press ad host of smaller independents. They specialises in branding and identity, mainly works with large-scale companies such as Nike and Microsoft also their work has been published in over one hundred books and magazines worldwide. “I really don’t understand people that try to be cool”- quote from their official webpage.Those are couple of

The second Design Studio,
which we looked at, was AH-Ha Studio. AH-HA is a communication and graphic
design studio, which was established in 2011 by Carolina Cantante and Catarina
Carreiras and based in Portugal. The studio pursues varied creative interests
across a variety of mediums: from brand strategy to interior design, naming and
identity work, advertising, new media, traditional and fine print, retail and
product design, photography and illustration. They are unique in what they
specialize because of the use of basic shapes, limited colors and abstract in

The next studio is ‘Hey
Studio’ is a Graphic Design Studio based in Barcelona, Spain and was founded in
2007. They specialize in brand identity, editorial design and illustration.
Their online shop was opened in 2014. They
worked with a number of universally recognised companies such us Apple,
Vodafone, Threem Turkish Airlines, General Electric, Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert,
The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Porter, CBS, Film Commission, Chile, Inditex,
Fortune Magazine, Design Studio, Monocle, MACBA, CCCB, Penguin Random House and
Oxfam. Couple of examples of their work:
The fourth studio, which we looked at, is ‘Sagmeister
and Walsh’ based in New York and was founded by Stefan Sagmeister. They
specialising in advertising, art Direction, Branding & identity,
consultancy, concept development, commercials, curation, design system, environmental
design, event design, exhibition design, film/video, furniture design,
identity, interactive, naming, print, packaging, signage, writing, website

The next
design studio is ‘Hey Days’. It’s a Norwegian agency based in Oslo Norway. They
focus on developing visual identities, digital solutions and other associated
material for small and big clients. Examples of their work:
‘Lust’ is a
multidisciplinary graphic design practice established in 1996 by Jeroen
Baendse, Thomas Castro and Dimitri Nieuwenhuizen. They are based in the Hague
Netherlands. They work in a broad spectrum of media including traditional print
work and book design, abstract cartography and data-visualisations, new media
and interactive installations and architectural graphic. Examples of their
work:
‘Dumbar’ is an international agency with a Dutch Heritage
and was founded in 1977, by Gert Dumbar. They are based in Netherlands (Rotterdam)
and a liaison-office in South Korea (Seoul). On average, they have 5 diferent
nationalities and cultures in the team. They are describing their work as ‘visual
branding, online branding’, meaning they create every visible expression of a
brand or organization – offline and online. This involves expertise in
strategy, communication, branding and process- management. Couple of examples

‘Elmwood’ was founded in 1997, based in London, Leeds, New York Honk Kong. They began as small agency in Leeds. They have created their own design tools and their own tea and beer brand. They are specialising in product design and only using Bold Fonts in their work. Couple examples of their work:
‘Bleed’ is multidisciplinary design consultancy based in
Oslo and Vienna. They create identity and experience through concept
development, art direction, graphic design and service design. They worked for Ikea. Couple examples of

‘Face’ is a super modernist design studio specialised in developing
honest branding projects across the world. Rik Bracho and Ricardo Tejada
founded it in 2006. They are located in Mexico. They offers a full range of consultancy
and design services, from brand development to specific design work for premium
brands: identity, branding, editorial, web design, packaging and visual
communication. They have design different thinks for 'Size' and 'My Space'. Couple examples of their work:
‘Dessein’ was founded in Perth Australia in 1987. They
specialise in branding, websites, and packaging and exploring new
possibilities, books, brochures, catalogues. They include lots of photography
in their packaging designs. Their all team come from diverse cultural
backgrounds, and religions: Korean, Italia, Indian and Australia. Examples of their work:
‘Wolff Olins’ is a global community of thinkers and makers and was founded in 1965 by Michael Wolff and Wally Olins. They are located in London, San Francisco, Dubai and New York. They have created logo for Olympics. Also they work and partner with experts around the world and they designed a logo for famous companies such us ‘Skype’, ‘EE’, ‘PWC’ and ‘NYC’.
